What day and time should I schedule our session?

I can schedule sessions every day, Monday to Friday, and of course weekends.  My favorite time to shoot is within 2 hours of sunrise and sunset. Wait, did you say sunrise? I’m always after the best light and these are the times that nature provides it. This being said, I can accommodate any time that works best for you.

How far in advance should I schedule a session?

 Try to book 2-3 months in advance. Spring and fall are beautiful seasons to capture, keep this in mind as they are particularly popular times of the year.

How do I book a session?

Simply fill out the form on Connect page, with your date and time.  I will send you a contract to read over and sign and reserve your spot with a 30% non-refundable retainer of the package price.

When should we book a maternity session?

The best time to book your maternity session is between 28 and 35 weeks so that your bump is visible and you are comfortable.  If you’re not sure, no worries let”s connect and we will find the right moment.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Rescheduling is no problem. We’ll find a new session date that works for both of us at no charge. I do ask for a 30% retainer to hold your date. If you’d like to cancel and prefer not to reschedule, I unfortunately, cannot return your deposit. Mini sessions cannot be rescheduled but can always be given to a friend.

Can I hire you to shoot my pet, wedding, headshot, party, etc?

Let’s talk about your project and if I think it’s right for both of us, game on! If not, I’ll recommend some great people to help you out.

What can I expect during the session?

My goal is to create a relaxed and fun experience while capturing genuine emotion. I find it best to let kids be kids, and will spend time interacting and playing with them to draw this out. The more you treat the session as playtime vs serious business, the better.  I shoot on location at your home, in your neighborhood, in a park, or fun urban location. I do have studio sessions but they are prebooked in advance.  I’m a lover of natural light so that is what I use.

What should we wear?

Whatever makes everyone feel comfortable! Colors and layers are fun. If possible, I would avoid white, black, bold patterns and items with logos, characters or writing. I’d also avoid all wearing the same color. Wardrobe changes are also doable if you’d like variety. Don’t fret, sometimes it is helpful to see a  moodboard which I can create to help capture your vision.

Should we bring anything with us?

A blanket to sit on can be handy – especially with babies. A special toy that inspires play (balls, bubbles, balloons) can also bring out some great moments with kids. I also recommend having some non-messy snacks and a drink on hand. Unless getting messy is the idea – 1-year-old smash cake?!

Where are maternity shoots done?

For maternity shoots, we can shoot in your home or in-studio, and at times in hotel rooms, which never go to waste for the mom to be! Feel free to ask me what hotel rooms are great for natural beautiful light.

What if it rains?

If the weather is not cooperative, we’ll either move the shoot indoors or reschedule. I’ll contact you the day before our session if the weather looks bad.

How soon can I see the photos?

Images will be uploaded to your private online gallery within 3 weeks of the session. I’ve partnered up with some amazing printshops in Canada. Print delivery will vary depending on items purchased.

How many photos will I see and get to keep?

I select and edit the best images from our session, and will deliver upon the package that was selected by you.  You get all these as high-resolution jpeg files. For mini sessions, you get a minimum of 8 images.

What if I’m unhappy with the photos?

I want you to love your photos. If you are not happy, I will work with you to make it right.

Will the images be in color or black & white?

I usually provide a mix and will edit the image depending on what I think best suits the photo. If you have a preference, please let me know.

Do you offer prints?

Yes! You can order prints right from your personal online gallery using my partner printshop. I’ve chosen Pic-Time as a gallery provider because they offer an amazing selection of personalized products. A wonderful selection from photo albums, calendars, prints, and even thank you cards!
